Salinas from Ecuador is the “Blue Paradise of the South Pacific” for its privileged geographical position on the shores of the Pacific Ocean, which gives it a dry climate most of the year, ideal for bathers and athletes.
It is located in the Puntilla from Santa Elena, in the province of the same name in the west of Continental Ecuador.
Salinas means salt mines and bears this name because the city is a huge source of this condiment used to prepare and conserve food.
This city is the spa near the most important sea in Ecuador and one of the main tourist destinations on holidays, and new year.
Its climate is influenced by the cold current of Humboltd that favors whale watching from June to October.
The people of this place, besides the tourism and the exploitation of the salt wells, are dedicated to the artisanal and sport fishing.

Another meteorological event that affects the climate of Salinas is the phenomenon of El Niño that occurs at the end of December with a periodicity between 3 and 8 years and that increases the amount of rainfall.
The tides are not phenomena outside the beaches of Salinas, two high tides occur and two low tides a day being more intense in phases of full moon or new.
Considering that there is always a full moon at Easter, it is recommended that bathers take due precautions when visiting the sea.
